THE LAST LOOK

(Reviving something I wrote 2-3 yrs back :D )

She looked at him and smiled. Just looking at him gave her a weird feeling – a happiness so extreme that she could not breathe properly. She knew she loved him more than anyone could ever love him – or so she believed. Though he never expressed his feelings as blatantly, she was sure he loved her as well. They had spent a long time together, and each day had been better than the last. It was perfect – the understanding, the smiles, the laughter they had shared. She had found the confidence that was missing in her life.

Now as she looked at him walking towards her, she could feel herself blushing, and her bright eyes twinkled even more.

“Have to tell you something” – he began without preamble.

“Something wrong?”

“I can’t be with you anymore.”

She kept quiet, looking at him.

He spoke on. She, in her heart of hearts, knew he was speaking complete sense, but somehow she couldn’t understand. Was he trying to say that he was leaving her? But that couldn’t be… He finished speaking, gave a smile that said sorry, and walked away.

It started to rain. No one noticed a girl getting drenched in the heavy rain – her arm raised, her eyes dead.
